Limerick and Waterford changes for showdown

PETER LAWLOR has regained his place in the Limerick team for Sunday’s Guinness All-Ireland hurling semi-final against Waterford in Croke Park.

It’s one of three changes made in the starting line-up from the quarter-final win over Clare, while the Waterford side features the return of Jack Kennedy in place of Shane Walsh.

Lawlor, a late substitute in the Clare game, had been unable to start because of ‘flu and his place was taken by Mark O’Riordan — who now drops to the subs bench.

Donie Ryan is preferred to Niall Moran, whom he replaced in the last game, while Sean O’Connor returns after injury, displacing Kevin Tobin.

He is named at right corner-forward, with Andrew O’Shaughnessy switching to the other side.

Once more, Eoin McGrath has to be satisfied with a place on the bench for Waterford, despite his important contribution as a second-half substitute in last week-end’s replay win over Cork.

Instead, the only change made by Justin McCarthy and his co-selectors has been to bring in Jack Kennedy, who had played in the drawn game but took no part last Sunday.

Kennedy, named at right corner-forward, replaces Shane Walsh.

Derry will be unchanged for tomorrow’s Bank of Ireland football quarter-final against Dublin.

It means that corner-back Michael McGoldrick, centre-forward Paul Murphy and left corner-forward Conceit Gilligan hold on to their places after having been replaced during the course of the last game.

Meanwhile Galway will be on the look-out for a new manager after Peter Ford indicated that he would not be seeking a second term.
