A RE-EXAMINATION of the league and championship structures at inter-county level is an immediate priority if the GAA is to avoid a further deterioration of club activity, according to Player Welfare Manager Paraic Duffy.

Currently, he is spearheading a drive to improve matters through the presentation of a discussion document to the provincial councils and, at the weekend, the Central Council.

The idea is that counties and clubs will be given the opportunity to debate the issue and come up with proposals by August 24 which will assist the Management Committee in finalising recommendations.
