Mickey Harte’s squad has undertaken a team building course in their bid for Ulster and All-Ireland SFC glory.

Harte, whose side face Donegal in a provincial semi-final in Clones on Sunday, said he was delighted with the afternoon spent with Ireland Xtreme in Co. Kildare.

“This Ireland Xtreme is set in the grounds of Carton House. The owners of Carton House, the Mallaghan’s, are relatives of mine so they set up the day for us. It was all about team building and bonding and creating an environment of energy and support.

He continued: “It is aimed primarily at corporate people but we found it very, very interesting from a team building perspective.

“People play the sport together all the time but they don’t appreciate alot of the characteristics that these boys have. This course was all about showing leadership and stepping out into the unknown. By to doing these things, they can learn from each other and learn more about each other.”

He outlined the activities undertaken: “There was a climbing frame, which gets increasing difficult the higher you go. There was a narrow pole which people had to climb and then stand on a narrow platform which was the size of a dinner plate! But you needed to work with all the others to achieve that, people had to support one another. There was off road driving, problem solving and many other challenges. It was very enjoyable and well worthwhile.”
