‘Twas like winning the lotto’

THERE were chaotic scenes in the tunnel under the Gaelic Grounds yesterday with Limerick supporters celebrating like they’d just won the All-Ireland title.

And indeed well might they celebrate; they had just witnessed a performance as courageous, as determined, as uplifting, as any we’ve seen from a team in the famed green-and-white for many a year, from the time in fact when selector Gary Kirby was himself in his pomp.

Enthused Kirby: “They showed great heart after going down to 14 men after about 20 minutes.
