GAA and GPA continue to explore various avenues

THE GAA and the Gaelic Players Association had their first formal meeting in Dublin last night, since the Government pulled the plug on the proposed package of grant aid under the guise of player welfare.

In advance of the meeting, GAA President Nickey Brennan pointed out that, consistent with their last public statement on the issue, they would continue to “explore various avenues”.

The joint submission was based on a commitment given by the Government that it would make up to €5 million on a stand-alone basis available annually to support player welfare.
