McCarthy wishes camogie team well

WATERFORD manager Justin McCarthy took time out from coaching the senior hurlers ahead of Sunday’s NHL final against Kilkenny to give a few words of advice to the county’s camogie team who play Down in the Division 2 All-Ireland final in Portlaoise on Sunday.

McCarthy said: “It’s a unique occasion in that this is the first time Waterford and Kilkenny will meet in the National League final and the camogie team are appearing in their All-Ireland final for the first time also.

“Stephen Molumphy has a girlfriend involved with the camogie team and Shane Prendergast’s sister also plays with them.

“I brought a few of the more senior players in with me and we gave them a few words of encouragement and (said) what it would mean to win an All-Ireland title,” he added.
