Kerry pays tribute to football team’s ‘intense desire’

Kerry mayor Ted Fitzgerald hosted a civic reception in Tralee to mark their achievement in winning both All-Ireland and National Football League titles this year.

“The emphatic victory over Mayo on the third Sunday in September was due to the tremendous commitment from players, management and staff,” he said. “The success of the team, under the captaincy of Declan O’Sullivan and the management of Jack O’Connor, in winning not only the All-Ireland, but also the National League, was testament to their intense desire to wipe out the bitter memory of the defeat to Tyrone in the 2005 final.”
