Clinical Crowley shoots Dohenys to ‘B’ title

DOHENYS had some consolation for losing the senior football championship decider to Nemo Rangers when they won the county “B” JHC title at Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday.

The Dunmanway club deserved their victory and had David Crowley to thank, as he scored six of his side’s nine points, all from placed balls. Their win means the title has gone to the Carbery division for the fifth year in-a-row.

While the hurling was certainly not for the purist, with poor striking and some crude tackling, the west Cork side won because they had a few fine hurlers. Tadhg O’Leary was rock solid at full-back, outside him Denis Lyons never put a foot wrong, Conor Collins and Denis Healy ensured they won the midfield exchanges while Patrick McCarthy was the pick of the forwards and deservedly won the man of the match award.
