Dunboyne to square up to Rathmolyon in final

THERE will be a novel pairing in this year’s Meath SHC final with Dunboyne and Rathmolyon in opposition following their ‘semi’ successes in Trim yesterday.
Dunboyne to square up to Rathmolyon in final

Dunboyne, who lost to Kilmessan in both the 2003 and 2004 finals, got some revenge for those defeats when putting out Kilmessan, who were strongly fancied for another title, with a 0-7 to 0-6 victory in a low scoring first semi-final.

After leading by 0-5 to 0-4 at the break, Kilmessan could only add a point in the second period and Niall Hackett made five points for Dunboyne, including a late winning score.

Rathmolyon trounced Kildalkey by 6-16 to 0-7 in the second semi-final. They led by 2-8 to 0-5 at half time and John Farrell took the scoring honours with 4-4.

Meanwhile Cortown were demoted from the SFC in Meath when Kilmainhamwood defeated them by 0-13 to 0-11 in a relegation play-off at Moynalty on Saturday evening.
