McDonald set to start despite scare

HOPES are high in Mayo that attacker Ciaran McDonald will be fit to start tomorrow’s All-Ireland senior football final against Kerry.

McDonald developed a back and hamstring injury at training on Wednesday, sparking fears that he will be ruled out for the repeat of the 2004 decider, but intensive treatment over the last two days has meant the he is certain to take his place in the Mayo full-forward line.

However, he will receive further treatment before tomorrow’s game.
