O’Sullivan: Star quality has turned our season

THERE are plenty of landmarks and turning points in an intercounty career, moments that will be assured of a place in the repertoire of war stories when the boots have long been retired.

Tom O’Sullivan could spend the night talking you through All-Ireland victories and defeats of a six-year stint in the Kerry defence, spinning yarns about pacy corner forwards and the tricks to unsettle them or recounting memories about the good, the bad and the ugly days of wearing the green and gold.

Strangely, one of the most recent gems for O’Sullivan’s collection arrived, not on a championship Sunday, but on a warm evening training session in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney.
