Prenty hails ‘huge day’ for football in West

CONNACHT provincial secretary John Prenty described Sunday’s results as “a huge day” for Connacht, praising Fergal O’Donnell for doing a fantastic job with the Roscommon minors and acknowledging the significance of Mayo’s senior win.

“It was definitely the best Mayo performance ever in Croke Park but the game itself was fantastic. Every game they have played has been close. Mickey Moran has put in a huge amount of mental steel into them.

“They don’t ever give up. In the final they’ll battle and battle. They’ll be there to the very end.
