Record bet fails to deliver

AN Armagh football supporter lost €20,000 — the biggest single game bet in GAA history — when Kerry booked their place in this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final at Croke Park on Saturday last.

The mystery punter placed the bet at a Boylesports shop in Co Louth last week, getting odds of 10/11 on an Armagh win.

“It was the biggest bet we’ve ever taken on a single GAA game played over 70 minutes,” Paul Magee of Boylesports said.

“If it had gone his way, he would have made €18,000 profit on his wager.”
