Keating: Tipp set for Déise double

THIRTEEN years on from the All-Ireland semi-final of 1993, when they failed to Galway after storming through Munster, Babs Keating returns to Croke Park as manager of the Tipperary hurling team.

Just four weeks ago he saw his team go under to Cork in the provincial decider, in a game in which Donal Óg Cusack’s goalkeeping and a below-par performance from Eoin Kelly heavily influenced the outcome.

On Sunday in they renew their rivalry with Waterford in the last of the four All-Ireland quarter-finals. The dust had hardly settled after the provincial decider when Keating and the management were enveloped in controversy which saw Ger O’Grady banished from the panel and the captaincy given over to Lar Corbett.
