EASY to forget now, but it is less than two months since Waterford approached their Munster Championship semi-final against Tipperary with the air of a condemned man about to face a firing squad.

Without the injured John Mullane and the suspended Eoin Kelly, and with Ken McGrath clearly off peak fitness with a recently healed broken thumb, few gave Justin McCarthy’s side much hope of reaching the provincial decider.

So it transpired. Yet, with Tipp again looming large on the horizon in this weekend’s All-Ireland quarter-finals, the mood in Waterford has been flipped on its head. Talk now is of All-Ireland titles.
