Canty a doubt for Cork’s quarter-final

GRAHAM Canty’s availability for Cork’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final game against either Fermanagh or Donegal on August 5 remains in doubt.

Forced off 10 minutes from the end of Sunday’s game with a knee injury, the Bantry man is to undergo exploratory surgery Friday.

“It’s serious enough,” said team doctor Con Murphy yesterday. “But, we are hoping that it might not be as bad as we fear.”

Canty operated at left corner-back against Kerry, carrying out a very effective marking job on Colm Cooper.
