Cavan lose out as Brady opts to defend world handball title in America

CAVAN footballer Paul Brady, left, has withdrawn from his side’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier with Kildare on Saturday.

Brady travels to America on Friday to defend the world title he won so dramatically last year.

He is expected to be replaced by captain Anthony Forde, who will be making his first appearance for the Blues after a three-month suspension. Panellist Lorcan Mulvey is also available following his ban.

Star forward Jason Reilly will also return, having missed the defeat to Down. Larry Reilly is likely to be retained having regained full fitness after struggling with a knock that curtailed his training prior to the clash with the Down.

Gerald Pierson is unavailable to Martin McElkennon, however. He seemed to have made a successful return from a cruciate ligament injury but has been experiencing some discomfort recently and has ruled himself out.
