Calendar row brews in Donegal

A ROW is brewing between the Donegal County Board and the Gaelic Players’ Association (GPA) surrounding the sale of a calendar.
Calendar row brews in Donegal

GAA chiefs in Donegal are angered that the GPA are selling advertising for a calendar which features the Donegal senior football team — but is not sanctioned by the county board.

Last night, the board said: “It has come to the attention of the Donegal County Board that local businesses are being approached to purchase advertisements on a wall calendar linked to the Donegal senior football team.

“The sports poster company product is in no way linked to the Donegal County Board nor do any of the profits generated make their way back into development of Gaelic games in Donegal. The senior football team do not benefit financially in spite of the impression which may be given.

“The Donegal senior football GPA wall calendar is not endorsed by the board in any shape or form and the board would not encourage local advertisers to support it.”
