Called up are goalkeeper Alan Quirke, centre-back Ger Spillane and centre-forward David Niblock.
Kevin O’Dwyer was the regular custodian last season but was replaced by the Valley Rovers net minder for the start of Cork’s championship campaign. Anthony Lynch filled the centre-back position last season but now drops back to left full back to the exclusion of Gary Murphy, with Spillane from the Ballygarvan club, earning his spurs in the pivotal defensive position.
With the introduction of Niblock at centre-forward, Conor McCarthy moves to right half forward while, with John Hayes ruled out with a hamstring injury, Kevin O’Sullivan of Ilen Rovers continues in the left corner forward position.
Owen Keating returns to the Limerick team.
In the only change in personnel from the team which beat Clare in the opening round, Keating replaces Pat Ahern at right half forward.
Team captain Muiris Gavin failed to pass a fitness test last evening but is included among the substitutes.
PRO Colette O’Grady said last season’s top scorer Stephen Kelly was still a good distance from full fitness.
Tipperary also introduce three new players to their championship team for their showdown with Kerry in the other Munster semi-final at Killarney on Sunday.
Corner-backs Michael Phelan and Andrew Morrissey, together with right half forward Philip Austin, will be making their debuts.
Offaly manager John McIntyre has made one change from the side which easily accounted for Laois in round one for Sunday’s Guinness Leinster SHC semi-final against Wexford at Nowlan Park.
Dylan Hayden takes over from Declan Tanner. Tanner, who played at left half back against the O’Moore County, drops down to the subs bench, with Ger Oakley moving from midfield to that position. Hayden will partner Gary Hannify at midfield.
Long-serving Brian Whelahan is struggling with a shoulder injury, while Damien Murray has an ankle strain, but both are expected to be named among the substitutes.
Senior players Pat Kirby, Michael Fitzgerald, Owen Benson and Seamus Hickey have been included in the
Former All Star midfielder Mattie
McGrath is expected to get a starting place in the Fermanagh team for their Ulster SFC semi final confrontation with Armagh at Clones on Sunday.
McGrath was not included in the starting line-up for Fermanagh’s victory over Antrim in the quarter final because of an ankle injury, but later was introduced as a substitute.
Limerick’s U21 hurling team play Waterford in the Munster championship at Dungarvan tonight (7.30). Gavin O’Mahony, who captained the county minors in their All-Ireland defeat by Galway at Croke Park last September, lines out at wing back.
Senior panellists Kevin Moran, Shane O’Sullivan, Gearoid O’Connor and Liam Lawlor will backbone Waterford’s team.
Moran, a surprise omission from the senior team last Sunday, will fill the key centre-back berth while O’Sullivan, who proved hugely effective when he came on as a second-half substitute in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, will captain the side from midfield.
The U21s now carry all of Waterford’s hopes of a Munster hurling title and there is a fair level of expectation behind the present side.
