IN his first championship game in charge, Limerick coach Mickey Ned O’Sullivan tried to put a positive spin on his side’s narrow victory over Clare.

“This game was always going to be a banana skin for us. We were favourites going in and I’m very relieved we managed to get the win because we played poorly and Clare deserved to get something out of the game.

“They are a very strong, physical team and conditions suited them. They’ll go away feeling they kicked the match away, but rather them than us.
