LISMORE and Tallow produced a cracking Waterford senior hurling championship derby at Cappoquin on Saturday with a draw the fitting result after an exciting and fiercely competitive hour.

For long stages the initiative was held by Lismore — they held an eight point interval lead well into the second half — but Tallow refused to panic and chipped away to pull level and were desperately unlucky to not win in the final seconds.

Lismore had a super start with Dan Shanahan pointing inside 12 seconds, and when the outstanding William Cunningham and the unerring Dave Bennett also rifled over points, Tallow looked in trouble.
