Mary’s look to secure first part of Sligo double

THE All-Ireland “B” and “C” colleges finals are also to be decided this weekend.

Mary’s look to secure first part of Sligo double

Today at Cusack Park, Ennis (3pm), Mount St. Michael’s (Rosscarbery) clash with St. Mary’s (Ballisadare, Sligo) in the C final. Mary’s could spark off a great weekend for the northern schools as Abbey CBS (Newry) are in the “A” final on Monday.

Not so long ago St. Micheal’s were competing in the higher grades, but they are in the process of rebuilding and bidding for the B grade for 2007. Football in their catchment area is very strong with the local club competing at senior level in the Cork championship. They are favourites to take the title.

On Monday La Salle (Belfast) take on St. Attracta (Tubbercurry, Sligo) in Parnell Park (3pm) and on the strength of their convincing semi-final win over Palmerstown (Dublin) will be fancied to finish the season on a winning note.

Also on Monday at Navan (2pm) Presentation (Bagnalstown, Carlow) take on St. Patricks (Maghera) in the All-Ireland “B” SHC final.

Following St. Pats shock win over Munster champions St. Josephs Borrisoleigh in their semi-final, the Ulster champions shouldn’t be under-estimated.
