Athea spring first surprise with fine victory over Drom-Broadford
Athea dominated the opening exchanges and were two points clear (0-5 to 0-3) after a tight opening spell but Drom-Broadford’s Michael Reidy converted a penalty to give his side a two point lead (1-8 to 0-9).
Athea stormed back with goals from Ger Ahern and substitute John Cotter to claim victory.

NEWLY promoted St Senan’s gave experienced St Kieran’s, minus county goalkeeper Seamus O’Donnell, a scare in an enjoyable game at Newcastle West.
Andy Lane and Jimmy Carroll sent the newcomers into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead, but a Declan Quaide goal, from a penalty, gave Kieran’s a one point lead (1-4 to 0-6) at the interval.
Kieran’s built a 1-12 to 0-8 advantage after the break but points from Dave Foley, Conor Mullane, Timmy Carroll and Foley again narrowed the gap for a grandstand finish.

A LAST minute point from county player Stephen Kelly gave Newcastle West a share of the spoils in their SFC meeting with Claughaun yesterday.
Newcastle West managed only one score in the first half. But Claughan replied with points from Paul Harmon, Andrew Fitzgibbon, Dave O’Neill and Justin Minogue along with a Paul Harmon goal to lead 1-4 to 1-0 at the break. Claughaun were still two points ahead entering the final minutes, when Pat Fitzgerald and Kelly came to the West’s rescue.
