’Well aware of Limerick absence

the first time in almost 40 years, there won’t be a Patrickswell player starting with Limerick’s hurlers in Sunday’s Guinness Munster championship semi-final against Cork.

However, the reigning county champions have three players brothers Peter and Paul O'Reilly and Paul O'Grady among the substitutes. Ciarán Carey was a panel member earlier this year, and named captain, but then he withdrew. He broke a hand in a club game three weeks ago.

"Since I won my first county championship in 1965, Limerick never went out without a Patrickswell player,'' commented Phil Bennis, one of the club's outstanding players who also managed the county at minor, U21 and senior level.
