Two minutes from the end of normal time and Micky Harte's team was under pressure holding on to their slim lead. Then Armagh sharpshooter Steven McDonnell lined up a shot from close-range with goal written all over it, but Gormley came from nowhere to smother his kick.

Team captain Peter Canavan played a major role with five early points before being forced off injured (and then resuming late in the game) and many others, including Owen Mulligan with two huge frees, made enormous contributions. But ultimately it was Gormley's interception which decided the outcome.
