Camogie gets €250,000 cash boost

The announcement was made by camogie president, Miriam O’Callaghan, at the Association’s annual Congress in Blarney last night.

The President said the monies will be used “to further the development of the game at all levels and that this would include the recruitment of personnel in the area of coaching and games development at national and regional level.

“All of us in camogie are delighted with this generous contribution which will ensure that the organisation remains a vibrant leader and an essential part of women’s sport in Ireland. Last year we celebrated our centenary year and this funding is a great boost as we head into the second century.”

Sports Council chief John Treacy said the camogie chiefs had submitted impressive and extensive plans in respect of the allocation.

Meanwhile RTÉ confirmed they will televise the All Ireland senior semi-finals following the success of last year’s broadcast.
