Lilywhites the dark horse of the match

KILDARE head into Thurles this evening as the enigmas in white. Whereas the true measure of Kerry has yet to be gauged, few people are sure where Kildare stand in the whole race for the most wide open Sam in years.

Lost in all the emotion over Dublin’s first success in seven years was the fact that only two goals in a minute crumbled the Lilywhite challenge.

As the game neared, moves were afoot in Kildare to keep O’Dwyer for another while. Was there really any surprise there? Retirements in GAA are flimsy at the best of times. Does anyone actually believe we won’t see Graham Geraghty in a Meath shirt next season?
