Not Dunne and dusted yet

ANY Wexford hurling supporter dreaming about success over champions Kilkenny in tomorrow’s Leinster final in Croke Park would have to include a role for Liam Dunne in their wish list.

Not Dunne and dusted yet

Nobody else in the current team has sacrificed as much in the pursuit of success. No other single member of the squad has had to endure anything like the disappointment and public humiliation he has suffered.

He was the player controversially sent off along with Brian O'Meara in the 1998 All-Ireland semi-final and last year he didn't finish the Leinster final. His biggest critics would say that he pays the price for his indiscipline, but others offer the more moderate view that he suffers for having acquired a bad name. Maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but, whatever the real story is, Dunne had the courage to come back for another year to give of his best for his club, his county and his family.
