Tipp’s three changes for replay

THE Tipperary Senior hurling team to play Limerick in tonight’s Munster SHC replay shows three changes from the drawn match.

Diarmaid Fitzgerald, Micheal Webster and Tommy Dunne come in to the side in place of Martin Maher, Francis Devanney and Paddy O'Brien. John Carroll returns to the panel and is listed among the substitutes.

Popular opinion would suggest that Limerick have lost their chance of advancing to a semi-final with Clare. I disagree. Playing at the Gaelic Grounds should be beneficial while their confidence has grown in the past week.

Ken Hogan will be demanding more from each and every player wearing a Tipperary jersey this evening.

The progress made by Cork since the sides met in last year’s qualifiers shows how the Premier County have lost ground in the race to win the All-Ireland.

They can still call on the bulk of the 2001 winning side, but they have clear weaknesses in attack.

Limerick aren’t the finished article, but based on the first game they are moving in the right direction.

Last Sunday I believed Tipperary would win due to their greater experience. It will need much more than that if they are to stay involved in Munster and while I wouldn’t bet on it happening, I still feel they have the better chance.
