Hayes unlikely to return for Cork

THE return of John Hayes to the Cork senior football team could be put on hold following the Carbery Rangers ace’s failure to finish yesterday’s Sigerson Cup match with UCC.

Hayes unlikely to return for Cork

Hayes missed Cork’s victory over Kerry in the McGrath Cup final and last weekend’s League defeat by Offaly with a leg injury. He has been named in the side to meet Kerry in the second round of the League at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday night but is unlikely to start.

After converting a penalty that propelled UCC to victory over NUIG, Hayes collapsed in agony and limped off. The extent of his injury has yet to be determined but his prospects of playing on Saturday appear to be bleak.
