Camogie festivities planned to celebrate Lá na gClub
Last year, clubs used the day to celebrate the sport’s Centenary Year and involve the community in the sport. Fundraisers, fun days, fancy dress matches and many more events were held by clubs and proved a huge success.
Following on from that, Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael decided to include the date in the calendar on an ongoing basis.
Association President, Miriam O’Callaghan, said: “I see this as a day that clubs set aside from the everyday administration of fixtures and games and decide instead to have a bit of fun. Last year clubs held a variety of events: mother and daughter games, barbeques, over-40 games, art and poetry competitions. It allows clubs to engage the wider meaning of what camogieis about - enjoyment.”
Camogie referees will meet at Croke Park on Saturday for a National Inter-county Seminar.
