For years, the Tipperary man’s gifts have been cited as the most powerful reason for a transfer system in the GAA. A few summers ago, rumours of his imminent departure to the colours of Kildare were as common as his one-man scoring shows for the footballers of the Premier county.

Through it all, he remained with his heart, constantly stating that he was ‘a Tipperary man through and through.’ And now, his loyalty has paid off.
