A goal from Pat Aherne saw Athea taking over for a period and Michael Reidy and Aherne gave them a five points advantage but Casey's rallied and an opportunist goal from John Boyle and a pointed free by Kevin Sheehan left them just a single point behind at the break.

Fr. Casey's found a new lease of life in the final quarter and a string of points from Shay McAuliffe, Boyle, Padraig Browne and Tommy Collins sealed a deserved victory.
