MEATH footballer Mark Ward has received an eight-week suspension from the Central Disciplinary Committee.

Ward suspended for eight weeks

The suspension, imposed at their midweek meeting, arises from an incident in the opening round of the NFL against Down on February 5. It will operate from the date of the game.

Paul McDonnell, a member of the Glenariff (Antrim) team which played Ballinhassig in the All-Ireland intermediate club championship on January 29, has been suspended for 12 weeks, while Athlone IT player Anthony Dunne received a four-week term. It runs from the date of the Keogh Cup (hurling) game against Meath on the same day.
