GAA dismisses €250,000 sponsorship link to GPA deal

GAA president Sean McCague dismissed suggestions that the GAA’s three-year deal with Toyota, worth €250,000 a year, was a direct response to the GPA’s successful Seat deal.

Dr Tim Mahony, chairman of Toyota Ireland, said they have been negotiating with GAA for the past 15 years, joking this has been one of the more successful short-term discussions for the company.

However, Mr McCague said yesterday’s sponsorship deal had nothing to do with the GPA.
