Just a few years ago, he accepted the Tipperary post at a time when a successful team had given all they could and were heading their separate ways. Last Autumn, he was sought by Offaly to knit together the seams of the past decade's success with youthful zest.

So far, so good. Fr Fogarty set the target of a Leinster final against Wexford. Despite playing some good hurling in patches, they couldn't stop the black and amber express. However, the new manager was pleased at some of the touches and flashes his side had shown.
