TIPPERARY should offer to play a tournament game against Fermanagh some time next year as a goodwill gesture, following the controversial decision to opt out of the Bank of Ireland football championship qualifier against them early in the summer.

The suggestion was made by Archbishop Dermot Clifford at last night’s County Convention, where he also called on the GAA to give the lead to other sporting organisations by ending their sponsorship link with Guinness.

Apart from a query about the quality of All-Ireland tickets, there was no debate on the secretary’s report. Mr. O’Brien drew the attention of delegates to his comments about the championship formats, pointing out that the systems to be operated in 2005 will be decided at the first meeting of the County Board on January 17.
