Seán and Barry keep goalkeeping in family

ANTRIM football duo Seán and Barry McGreevy are ready to prove that goalkeeping really does run in their family.

Boss PJ O’Hare has named his side to face Donegal in the Ulster SFC on Sunday and long-serving keeper Seán McGreevy, 31, is in goal as usual.

But with a serious doubt about the fitness of reserve keeper Chris Lynch (ankle), McGreevy’s younger brother, Barry, could be called in as back-up.

It wouldn’t be the first time the siblings have appeared on the same football field in their county’s colours before.

Back in 1995 Barry made his debut for the Antrim minors in goal against Cavan at Breffni Park. At the same venue, Seán kept goal in the Saffrons’ 0-8 to 2-11 championship loss.

The St Paul’s pair have both tried their hands at soccer, too, and Seán was on the books of Cliftonville at one stage.
