Corkery calls it a day

FORMER Cork football star Colin Corkery has finally called it a day after a career that saw him win numerous honours in the game, but no All-Ireland senior medal.

Corkery calls it a day

The Nemo man, who got 10 minutes action in Sunday's county championship final, has had a glittering career spanning 22 years and is now looking forward to some quality time.

"I've had a tremendous innings and will take some great memories from my years of playing", said Colin. "I've made great friends which will stand the test of time. Two of my most precious memories were the 1989 Corn Uí Mhuirí final against St. Brendan's. We were a point down at half-time and turned to play against a fierce wind, but managed to dig out a result. That was very special. So too was the 2002-3 All-Ireland Club final. I was captain and we had won the county title for the third year in a row, and after losing two All-Ireland finals.
