Kerry recall for Kirby as Galvin on bench

MIDFIELDER William Kirby has been recalled to the Kerry line-up for Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final clash with Mayo at Croke Park.

Eoin Brosnan, who started alongside Darragh Ó Sé in the Munster final victory over Cork switches to wing forward, with All-Star Paul Galvin dropping to the bench. Galvin has been struggling for two weeks with a throat infection and only resumed training last Sunday.

Kirby’s inclusion is the only change from their Munster Championship winning side and re-unites the pairing which dominated Mayo at midfield in last year’s All-Ireland final.

Galway stars Joe Bergin and Michael Donnellan have been passed fit to play against Cork in Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final at Croke Park

Bergin missed the Connacht championship because of a recurrence of a knee injury, which at one stage threatened to prematurely end his glittering career, while Donnellan received specialist treatment for a stomach muscle injury sustained in the Tribesmen’s Connacht final victory over Mayo.

Bergin returns at left half forward to the exclusion of Kevin Comer, while Donnellan is named at left corner forward, with Derek Savage moving to right half forward, and Mathew Clancy now taking over the centre half forward duties.
