‘Not looking good’ for banned star McMenamin

TYRONE will discover on Wednesday night the fate of their tenacious defender Ryan “Ricey” McMenamin.

Red Hand management were informed by Croke Park an hour before the Monaghan game that an interim appeal to his one-month suspension, arising out of an incident in the Ulster Final replay, had failed.

“Every attempt was made to have Ricey available to us this afternoon,” said manager Mickey Harte afterwards. “But the powers-that-be wouldn’t have it, so we had to change the script.”

McMenamin’s case will be heard by the GAA’s Disputes Resolution Authority, which include former Supreme Court Judge Hugh O’Flaherty and Aaron Shearer, the Kilmucud Crokes footballer. Tyrone secretary Dominic McCaughey admitted it was not looking good, but they will continue to support the player in whatever action he takes.
