Train tickets sell out in an hour

IRISH RAIL sold some 2,500 special train tickets for next week’s All-Ireland Hurling final in just under an hour yesterday.

A spokesman said despite a minor glitch on the computer system which delayed people accessing their website, they still managed to sell the entire allocation in under an hour.

“The tickets went on sale just after 11.30 and they were all gone before 12.30. We know we have sold in excess of 2,500 tickets, but what we’d really like to know is how many people actually tried to log on and to buy tickets, which would give us a clearer picture of the actual demand,” the spokesman said.
