The visitors, playing with the aid of a slight first half breeze, led at the interval by 0-7 to 0-3, Brian Kelly getting four of their scores.

It took Tipperary 23 minutes upon resumption to get back on terms with Browne kicking six points, and when he netted expertly in the 27th minute to send Tipperary clear, the Carlow challenge petered out.
