Shanahan takes his second Poc Fada title

LIMERICK’S Albert Shanahan bagged his second All-Ireland M. Donnelly Poc Fada title after he fought off the challenge of Wexford goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry in Saturday’s showdown in Co Louth.

The Shannonsider finished the Annaverna mountain course in 58 pocs, the same number as Fitzhenry.

However, the 2001 winner claimed the title as his last poc was 17 metres over the finishing line, seven metres further than Fitzhenry’s final effort.
