CLARE were a recurring motif in Alan Browne’s Cork hurling career. He was there when the Banner’s glory days began ten years ago, and he was on the field when the empire hit back in 2003.

Now retired from inter-county competition, Browne and former Cork colleague Kevin Murray have set up as Murray Browne Auctioneers in Cork. It’s not the first time the two have combined.

“I suppose 1995 was the start of it for Clare,” recalls Browne. “They beat us by a point but we nearly snatched it, I hit the post and Kevin had the ball flicked away just as he was shooting. I don’t know what would have happened that Clare team if we’d won.
