Hurling in the good old days

AN exhibition match, featuring old style hurleys, is to be played at half-time in Monday’s Oireachtas final, between Cork and Galway in Páirc Uí Rinn.

The game has been organised by the Oireachtas Committee and Waterford Crystal in conjunction with the Munster Provincial Council in honour Cork 2005’s European Capital of Culture celebrations.

The hurleys were especially made in the old style by a master of the craft, hurley maker John O’Sullivan.
