GAA PRESIDENTIAL candidate Nicky Brennan remains non-committal about opening up Croke Park to rugby and soccer - but favours a transfer of the decision-making responsibility to the Central Council.

And, without expressing support for a plebiscite of clubs he told delegates at the weekend Leinster Convention that he had no doubt that a “comprehensive consultative process” would be undertaken before such a major policy change.

Echoing the call of the Munster Chairman Sean Fogarty the night previously, Mr Brennan expressed the hope that the matter would be finalised “once and for all.” Pointing out that since the last debate at Congress, the Government had decided to financially support the redevelopment of Lansdowne Road - which would mean a new stadium ‘of their own’ for the IRFU and the FAI in a few years.
