RTÉ won’t show Ulster Final live due to new date
Instead football fans will have to make do with deferred coverage from the clash of the northern giants at Croke Park.
The station have an embarrassment of riches on the day with live broadcasts of the Connacht Final between Galway and Mayo along with the Munster decider featuring All-Ireland champions Kerry against Cork.
Donnybrook bosses had planned live coverage of the Ulster clash on it’s original date of July 17th.
However the Provincial Council decision to bring the game forward by a week so as to play the game at Croke Park has left RTÉ with little choice other than to go the deferred route after 6pm.
“There is nothing we can do,” an RTÉ spokesperson explained.
“We had made plans for a double header on July 17th along with the Leinster SFC Final between Laois and Dublin.”
“But the Ulster Council decision has left us in an impossible position as we are already committed to Connacht and Munster.”
But for those desperate to see the game there is the option of tuning into BBC 2 Northern Ireland which will broadcast the drama at headquarters from 3pm.
