Despite conceding home advantage to the representatives of the Garda Training College, the Waterford students produced a top-class overall performance of flair and passion to garner the spoils.

Although centre-forward Alan Harris gave the Garda an early boost when he pointed an acutely angled free after just two minutes of play, Waterford IT dominated the opening proceedings and their slick football powered them two points clear at the end of the first quarter.
