Cork selectors keep faith with semi-final starters

THE Cork senior hurling selectors have given the thumbs up to the team that started last weekend’s epic drawn game for Saturday’s Guinness All-Ireland semi-final replay with Wexford at Croke Park.

Cork selectors keep faith with semi-final starters

Pat Mulcahy is named at full-back once again with Diarmuid O’Sullivan in the left corner-back position. Both players were switched after unsteady starts on Sunday last. Mulcahy was caught badly for Wexford’s opening goal from captain Paul Codd, while O’Sullivan found Michael Jordan a real handful. However, both the Newtownshandrum and Cloyne stars benefitted enormously from the switch and played some mighty stuff in the second half.

Mickey O’Connell, who failed to hit the high notes, is retained as midfield partner to John Gardiner, while both Jerry O’Connor and Seanie McGrath, who deputised respectively for Timmy McCarthy and Niall McCarthy are again held in reserve.
